Our history: customer-oriented solutions since 2005

GLS is one of the leading parcel delivery companies in Spain. Since the start of its operations in 2005, GLS Spain has been connected to the extensive GLS network throughout Europe through its hubs in Barcelona and Madrid. Our service portfolio has grown continuously. From flexible delivery options to environmentally friendly transport and cross-border services, our transport solutions are based on the needs of private and corporate customers.

1999

Founding of General Logistics Systems B.V. (GLS) as a subsidiary of the English Royal Mail Group. Establishment and/or expansion of the company’s activities in Germany, Hungary and Ireland.

2005

Extand Sistema, the Spanish subsidiary of GLS, starts operations as GLS Spain. With Barcelona in full operation, GLS opens its second branch in Madrid.

2006-2007

GLS branches are opened in Valencia (2006) and Alicante (2007).

2008

The GLS Group launches its Europe-wide environmental protection programme, ThinkGreen.

2009-2010

GLS Spain continues with its expansion in inaugurates its depot in Zaragoza.

2011-2012

GLS in Spain continues to grow with the opening and relocation of new depots in several locations such as Málaga, Alicante, Zaragoza and Valencia with larger capacity facilities.

2013

We are certified according to ISO 14001 for environmental management and we also obtain ISO 9001 for quality management.

2014-2015

We opened our first branch in Alava and Vigo, where we set up the Group’s first branch in Galicia.

2015-2018

To be closer to our customers, GLS Spain joins Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn in 2015 and Instagram in 2018.

2016

In April 2016, GLS announces the acquisition of express parcel delivery company ASM Transporte Urgente, the second largest express delivery network in the country.

2018

On 1 February 2018, the GLS Group announces the acquisition of the Murcian transport company Redyser in Spain.

We received the GDP Good Distribution Practices certification
